Welcome to the 3rd FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships

In 2016, Hoorn will be the host of the 3rd FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships. Hoorn is known as the open water capital of the Netherlands. It is the host of the annual European Open Water Swimming Cup and in the past also was the venue of the European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships. In July this year Hoorn will be the host of the senior European Championships, and we are proud that we can combine this event with the 3rd FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships.
The Netherlands has never had the honor of being the host of a World Aquatic Championships and it appears logical that the first ever FINA World Championships held in our country, that mainly lies below sea level, shall be in Open Water.
Hans van Goor, Edith van Dijk and of course Maarten van der Weijden are well known regional athletes and all have done their laps in Hoorn. At the 3rd FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships future heroes will emerge.

See you in Hoorn!
